Music as a multidimensional experience

Music has been our companion for millions of years, since the caves, since we were born, we can produce and hear sounds, frequencies that our mind decodes and interprets in a certain way. Each song, mantra, instrument, has a timbre and produces different tones, when we feel that a song is very special for us, it is not by chance, it’s because precisely that frequency harmonizes your senses, your perception can capture it and feel what it does beyond of the physical senses. This is why we feel that music calms us, encourages us, discourages us, allows us to feel happy or sad, accompanies us in the process of going through our emotions.

This is what I learned by reading the story of my colleagues from the Music, Mind and Well-being course, which I had the fortune to know. In this course of the JYU summer school program, I learned to feel and observe music from another perspective, a more expansive and conscious one, I was able to understand the importance and great benefit that listening to music brings us daily.

In general, the social and economic system in which we operate requires a lot of productivity and it is difficult for us to take the time to rest and enjoy the day to day. Connecting with nature, with our friends, especially in times of pandemic, has meant social distancing and low energy in our body. In this scenario, music is a portal, it shows us what we need to feel and observe, we can travel to natural environments, with waves or forests, we can raise our vibration by repeating a mantra or singing a happy song, we can cry when we are sad listening to a song that evokes nostalgia, we can travel back in time to places and moments where we share with our best friend or our loved ones. We resonate with that song or that vibration because it means something to us, it brings us back to who we are, to the primordial energy that we express by dancing or singing or even just listening. When we listen to our favorite song, our vibration harmonizes and rests, that is when the expansion embraces us.

Finally, I would like to thank my classmates and teachers, the music, the songs, all the information that we were able to access and that will surely help us to grow and integrate this knowledge in the development of our being, seeking the well-being of living.

Music connects us and allows us to recognize each other, even if we don’t have the opportunity to see or hug each other, listening to a song I can get to know a part of you that also resonates with me.
